I am reading The War of the Worlds. I am on page 95 and I have not finished my book. My book is science fiction because aliens attack and there are futuristic weaponry. Aliens are unknown of so aliens being in my book make it fake and the weaponry used is advanced. For instance on page 35 a heat ray is used to burn buildings and kill anything in its path.

  3. I read the book Daniel X. I finished the book. I thought that this book was a great science fiction book. I think this because the book contains many different aliens, and planets that Daniel X travels to. The book also contain a large human portion. Daniel looks like a human but he is an alien. Also, he lives on Terra Firma AKA Earth. This book demonstrates the characteristics and quality of a great science fiction book.

I am reading the book The Lightning Thief by: Rick Riordan. I am currently on page 258. This book is more fantasy than science fiction because it involves mythology and gods, but it also includes some science fiction elements such as, it has imaginative characters like Grover is half goat, the algebra teacher was half bat, and the evil minion was half bull or as though he appeared as one. So far it is a great book and I am really enjoying it.

I am reading Mocking-jay. I am on page 337. This is a good science fiction book. It takes place in the future, better technology, and it is believable. For example of technology,"...the force field surrounding the arena..." We do not have force fields yet, but there probably will be in the future.

I finished reading The Maze Runner. This books is not a good or bad sci-fi book. It is believable and has science fiction elements such as electronic tubes, boxes that travel underground, and robots. But it still feels like a cross between science fiction and realistic fiction. It has realistic fiction elements such as the day to day like characters experience like farming, cooking, etc.

I am reading The Enchantress. I have finished the book. It is not a good sci-fi book at all. It has some sci-fi themes, like time travel and other dimensions, but it also includes people from every mythology you could think of, and then some you've never heard of, or historically famous people that should have died 100-600 years ago. It also involves extremely high-tech stuff, but the use of magic in other parts of the story makes it kinda useless. All in all, this story is only good if you want to read an interesting fantasy book, but not a sci fi book.

I am reading Goliath. I am on page 500. It is a good Sci-Fi book because it has futuristic technology like the Leviathan an big flying airship that moves fast and silently. Another thing this book has that relates to science fiction is imaginative creatures like the two headed Eagle. Another relative to technology is that they have a walking stick that turns into something like a Tesla coil but a lot smaller. The last example is it is set in the future in the leviathan and I know it is in the future because the technology and how the countries are during a war that hasn't happened.

I am reading Life as we Knew It. I am done with the book. I think this is both a good and a bad science fiction read. I think it is good because it has really good scientific theory in it. The scientific theory is that it really is possible for an asteroid to hit the moon but I don't think it would ever push it closer to the Earth. I also think that it's not a good science fiction read because there is no new technology, it's in the present, and it is just kind of normal (besides that everyone things the world is ending). The book talks about a girl and her family's life's as they try to survive, with limited food, diseases, and natural disastrous. I did enjoy the book though.

Raiders' Ransom. I am finished with my book. I think this book is a good and bad science fiction book. The elements of science fiction are properly used in this book with a lot of creativity. The bad part is that some of the made up devices and creatures were not that well explained. They were kind of confusing and extremely hard to believe. For example, there was a diamond with a computer built inside of it. Every time the diamond was touched by the main character, a face would pop out and start talking to her. This book was really creative, but I think it needs a bit more of an explanation.

My book is Cinder and I have finished it. I believe it is a good science fiction book because it involves new technology. For example, Cinder, the main character, is a cyborg and her best friend is Iko, an android. There also inhabitants on the moon who have special powers. The book takes place in the future, where robots are merchants and androids are used for medical care. There is a scientific theory in the book that a plague, which has so far been uncured, may have been brought to earth by the Lunar people (inhabitants of the moon). Every person has a microchip embedded in their wrist which allows the government to track them. All in all, this book is a good example of the science fiction genre.

I am reading the sci-fi book, The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I am done with this book.I think this is a good sci-fi book. Thomas and his friends were in a different world- a game where there were forced to live without knowing any memories. They get a new person sent to them every month and supplies every week. There are Maze Runners- people who explore the Maze in search of getting out. Those people have to be strong, both physically and mentally, because they could stumble upon a Griever- a creature that stings people. The Creators, people who sent Thomas and his friends to this different world sent them for an experiment. They were being observed and tested every day. Only the best could find a way home. I recommend this sci-fi book.

My book title is called chicagoland the mateless mummy. Im not on a page because I did finish my sci-fi book. Yes I think this novel is good science fiction book.
First, Megan and Raf’s friend is a talking dog
Second, because they solve crimes and this one is that there is a mummy missing and living
Third, Because the man they are talking about that is the best turns into a mummy
that's why I personally think this is a great novel for our science fiction project. Also because the book also has students in the school that Megan goes to their all like zombies because they all have band-aids on their left side of their head and they all are controlled by their lunch lady because she put something in their heads.

I am right at the end of "Goliath". I am around page 530 and have read some climactic stuff. Forewarning, it is really hard to post about this without spoiling the end so I am sorry if I do. In the book something happens to the super-weapon and its owner. Alec survives it though and gets back on the leviathan. This book is amazing and I know its sci-fi. This is because it takes place in an alternate version WWI and the people have lots of technology that we didn't have back then and still don't have now.

I thought it was a bad sci fi book because it just felt like a realistic book of hive just having a normal life and finding out the potential of the rock from space. Its also a good sci fi read because it sort of gave him his own super powers and it talked about space and about the rock from space. I think this book was a grate book ans i would read it again.

Well, I just finished the book I was reading called Z. Rex by Steve Cole, and I actually liked this book a lot, even though I don't read science fiction a lot. This is a good book because it really made me get into the book of how the text was written, and there were tons of action of fighting which I liked. It gave me a movie in my mind, I could just imagine it. Although it had a sad (not happy) ending, I would recommend this book to anyone (it looks like this is a series and there's a second one coming).

The book I read was the Maze Runner by James Dashner. I am now done with the book. I think this is a really good example of a science fiction book because there were so many elements proving that there was advanced technology or a new society. For example on page ten it says, "Night times coming, Runners'll be back soon." On page four it says, "Welcome to the Glade." This shows that there is a new society based in a new realm called the Glade. Also, this new society has different rankings and positions such as a Runner. New societies qualify as science fiction. There is also advanced technology in the book. On page 218 it states,"The sky a dull gray. The sun had disappeared!" This shows that the Glade was built and controlled by the Creators and that the Creators could control everything that happened in the Glade using technology. This technology is more advanced than what we have now, proving to be science fiction.

I am reading the book Found. I am done with the book. This book is a very good science fiction book. First of all in the prologue during the 1900 it talks about the airport and that it has very high technology. Also that the command tower can locate all of the planes coming and going from this airline. A couple of other examples near the end of the book is about the taser and a device called the elucidator. These devices helped Gary to make Chip, Alex, Katherine, and Jonah go back to 1483. The story takes place in the 1900 so to have this technology really proves that the story is science fiction. Also it is a fictional book.

The title of the book that I read was Ungifted by Gordan Korman. I have finished this book, and i think overall, I would rate it a 9/10. Donavan is sent to a gifted school on accident after wrecking his old schools gym. Donavan is anything but a gifted student, so he has to learn how to survive. With all of the curriculum that he doesn't understand, and now maybe having to repeat the grade because the teacher did not teach the class Health, which is a state requirement, he needs to think of a way to havve a real life example of Health. He realizes one day, that because his sister is pregnant, that his class will go to his sisters doctor appointments, and then get credit for the class. The book is very interesting, because it is told in many different viewpoints. Every chapter, the book switches the narrator, from character to character. That is why I think that this book is a thumbs up book.

I am reading Divergent by Veronica Roth. I finished this book. This is a really good book. It demonstrates that it is science fiction in many ways. Including, the fact that they are advancing in technology. I understood this from the quote "we use a more advanced version of the simulation here,...a different serum, no wires or electrodes for you." Also I know that the book takes place in the future because in the beginning of the book it mention the Sears Tower (Willis Tower) and says they call it the Hub. That can give a hint that they are in the future because we call it the Sears Tower (Willis Tower) now. This is a great book, and I would definitely recommend it.

All the Lovely Bad Ones. I finished my book. It’s not really science fiction because it talks about ghosts and about how they are real and not fake because Corey and Travis wake up the ghosts and talk to them and they won’t rest until 3 things are done. The title of the book I finished (a long time ago) is called The 5th Wave. This novel is a great book that definitely supported the definition of science fiction. Some evidence to support that claim is: the use of aliens. Advanced technology is thoroughly used throughout the book. The time is taken place in the future. What could get more sci-fi than that?

I am reading First Light by Rebcca Stead. I just finished the book today. I think this book is a great example of science fiction. First of all, the main character, Thea, lives underneath the Earth. Today, people don’t live underneath the Earth, so this must have taken place in the future. They are also able to live underground because they invented ways for them to get oxygen, food, and light. So there is some advanced technology. In the book it said that Thea was living underground because her people were accused of witchcraft. WItchcraft is not real.

I think this is a good example of science fiction because it didn't just start with the meteor crashing and then just talking about Miranda and her friends and families lives, it did a little bit of both. It talks about how when the meteor crashed, all the catastrophic events and what happened to the world because of it. In this story it talks about a girl's story that was true. the story took place during the Holocaust. I also think this is a good Nonfiction book because of the time period and how significant the time period was. Overall this book is unique because it is a Nonfiction book with a story inside it. I thought my book is a really good science fiction book because it's believable like in takes place later in the future at a place called Panema which is at earth. Another reason why this will be a good science fiction book because their only humans in the book and no aliens. I also thought that this sentence will be good evidence to prove it's a good science fiction because we might in the later future have to fight in a arena like in the book.

I was reading the book The Last Book In The Universe. I have finished the book. I really, really loved this book, and it really has some science fiction in it. My evidence that it is sci-fi because of the things from the book. There is this new brand of Chocolate called Chox-Box. Also, based on what I read, I feel like there is one planet with a mass destruction that happened, and a big part of the planet is still dead, while the other half is good and healthy. So, the place that’s good is Eden, and that place has people that are perfect. So, they are born perfect and great, and they are designed to be like that. They are called proovs. Also, since this planet had a mass destruction of disasters mixed together, and the other half is destruction, that’s where the people are mean, poor, and it’s mostly gangs in that area. Also, there’s new technology like a room you enter, and when you want to ask a question, it will show the answer in some kind of 3-D’ish way. Like if you ask “What does the Grand Canyon look like,” then the machine would turn the whole room to look like a realistic aspect of the Grand Canyon. So, these evidences show in sci-fi about new things in the future, since this book takes in the future 1,000 years from now.

The book Glitch includes a involves science or scientific theories, scientific inventions, imaginative characters-robots, extraterrestrial aliens, setting-different dimensions (past/present), futuristic, other worldly, story contains a human element, usually believable (otherwise will cross over to fantasy), and involves advanced technology. The book does describe some uses of technology, such as light bulbs, magnets, and other things, but does not describe any other science fiction elements. There is no time travel or aliens, but regular people living in a poor lifestyle, with little technology. It included futuristic elements such as chox bars ( a candy), the technology to improve human beings, and rooms that change color depending on your mood. It took place after a catastrophic event called the big shake. It was like a gigantic earthquake that destroyed the earth. The title of my book is Strangers and Beggars. I am finished with my book. I think this short stories book is good science fiction text based on the definition of science fiction because it has the things that could never happen in real life but it also brings a human element into the story. For example, in the short story Miss Hathaway's Spider It has a spider that grows more than 4 feet! The story brings a human element by having the setting in a classroom with a teacher and students. It also has a human element because each chapter of the book has tons of short stories about something that has to do with humans. For example, One chapter of the book is about teaching and another chapter is about love.

Its believable because they get their super powers from a lab test and you always see people who are doing testing wear suits or masks to protect them selves but the characters in my book do NOT have any protection. Another element is that it's based on a science element that could be true. The characters use their power to find a treasure from the pirate Annie Bonny (who supposedly buried her treasure in South Carolina) to stop the place their parents work at from being shut down. Along the way they have to use their Flare or powers to find the treasure and escape from the people trying to kill them.

It does a complete plot twist that I wasn't expecting at all. This book is under science fiction because it takes place in the future. The book I am reading is Skyship academy by Nick James. I am on page 277 and it has been a great book. So far from what I read, this book is good science fiction text because of the similarities of the definition. The book had based in the future and it had many events that could have happened in real life but did not. For example, at the beginning of the book, Cassius had a burning feeling inside of him like he was burning up expect it said he blew up like a fireball but still lived. There is also scientific elements involved in the story, because there was futuristic transportation to get out of the ‘’Academy’’ and the system is very different and more advanced than any of modern day transportation. Last, the setting is in the future, but it is not the usual advanced and good society, instead it is a wasteland with unfair judgement, and people who are trained and raised to fight, and survive.

I am reading the Infinity Ring: Divide and Conquer and I am on page 143. which is pretty much at the very end. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate a six for elements of sci-fi. I would rate it this because there was only about 2 elements of sci-fi, time-travel and technology from different ages. I would also rate it this because it takes place in the past and the future and it includes human elements to it. On a scale of one to ten for an overall book, I would rate it an 8 because the plot is slow moving and dragged on. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure stories and to someone who is looking for a nice and quick read. This is the second book in the series so read the first book before this one.

In this book they have the Quarter Quell, which is a hunger games that happens every 75 years but only the past winners fight to the death. This is science fiction because a Quarter Quell has not ever existed, but it could happen in the future by advancing with science and technology. Another thing that is science fiction in this book is Beetee invented a musical chip that is the size of a sparkle but can hold hours of music. This is science fiction because this has never been invented but could be invented in the future. Lastly, something that makes this book science fiction is when Katniss' wedding dress turns into fire, without hurting her, and eventually the fire goes away and her dress turns into a Mockingjay. This is science fiction because with the science we have today fabric can't light on fire and not burn you, and it definitely could not turn into a different dress.

I am reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I have just finished the book and it is not Sci-Fi, but it is a good example of realistic fiction because it is a story about a kid named Greg and he is a regular kid that has a family that drives him crazy and he has a best friend that he hangs out with a lot.

I am reading the book The Game of Sunken Places and I am really close to finishing the book. I think this book is an okay science fiction book. This book is a good example because it shows examples of a different dimension and different worlds. This book might also be more fantasy than science fiction because it has many monsters and trolls and that is an example of fantasy. I am really excited to read the ending.

There are vampires and lots of myths. On page 134 Bella (the main character) searches up vampires and all of the myths make it so unbelievable.

An alien species living below the surface of the Earth and so much science talk going on. I'm in awe that I read about Artemis Fowl, a criminal mastermind, and is only 12 years old.

I read and have completed "The Selection" by Kiera Cass. Overall, the book had some hints of science fiction but overall if you were to give it a main genre it would probably be romance. Some science fiction elements were it took place in a future U.S.A. after World War llll. I know this because the main character, America, learns about the countries history in a class because she must know the information to become the princess. Overall though I think that was the only science fiction element there was. I really enjoyed the book and I wouldn't not say it is science fiction because it is, it is just more towards romance.

“House of Dark Shadows”. I am on page 256, I am almost done with my book. I think this novel contains good sci-fi text because it has all the right ingredients to be a sci-fi book (futuristic devices, scientific theories, etc.). For example, in “House of Dark Shadows”, my scientific theory/ futuristic device is a teleportation device located in the house that transports to the new kids new school.

I am reading Trash and I'm on page 170. I am really close to finishing the book, and so far, I think this book is a really good example of realistic fiction. First off, the main characters are real humans, and there are no types of robots or super future technology. The characters also have jobs that real kids have in the world. They garbage pick, and everything they find they can turn in for money. Another reason that this book is realistic fiction is how the kids have to steal to survive. In the real world, kids who are in a death situation have to steal money and food to stay alive. In this book, all of the boys have no real jobs, and they only way that they can survive is stealing money and garbage picking.

    1. Unfortunately, you are correct about this being the way some kids in real life have to live their lives. After reading this book, I actually did a bit of non-fiction reading about kids in third world countries that really do survive by sifting through garbage.

I have finished reading the book Crater by Homer Hickam. I thought that the book was really slow but when it got good I was really into it. Although some parts were really slow which I hate it was still pretty intense. So what happened was that Crater the main character and Petro his friend as well as Thumper Tom went on a mining mission and A skyscraper fell on Thumper Tom. Crater and Petro then saved Thumper Tom leading to Crater and Maria the granddaughter of the owner of the mine being put into a Special mission. In the mission they face deadly obsticals and life threatening journeys.

Yes i think this is sci-fi because this book has some science fiction in this because they has in here something called the wonder baby's that are mechanical babies for all parents in the town. But Martin has realized that something has gone wrong with the babies. Read this book to find out what happens next.

The reason why I think this is because they had Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin land on the moon. The book has scientist that are made up characters in the story. This is the reason why this book is historical fiction.

I am reading the book Divergent by Veronica Roth. I am on page 467 so I have about 20 pages left. I really enjoyed this book and I would defiantly recommend it. This book was a good example of science fiction because it was futuristic and it had futuristic elements/scientific technology for example the simulations. The simulations are an example of scientific technology because it uses no wires or anything to give you these so called dreams which are really test to see what you will do in those types of situations to prepare you.It also takes place in future Chicago I know that because they said that what we know as the Willis tower is what they call the hub and it is completely demolished now.Overall it had many signs of science fiction.

Although one of the main reasons I liked it so much was because it was science fiction yet it had so many things that I could relate to. Like the kid started at the same age that I am right now , 13, and is growing up. And he also has siblings. But the one thing you couldn't relate to in the story were the events that were happening. Because they were all in the future. And that is one reason that I knew that the book was science fiction.

I am reading the book "The shadowing Hunted."I am on page 139. I think this book has some good science Fiction text. Some examples of this book having good science fiction is that it has ghosts like in this quote from page 4 that states "He sat hugging his rugby kitbag while he waited for his train, trying too ignore the ghost that stood beside him on the empty station platform.'' Also on page 7 it stated "The lane was lie a magnet for ghosts. Whenever Callum passed, they were there, drifting eerily through the darkness- long-dead parishioners making their way to prayers, just as they had done a hundred years ago, or four hundred, or more. These two quotes are showing the made up creatures. Also this has the believable parts as in the streets, houses, and there is a dog but this dog is a ghost.

The title of my book is The Boy Who Reversed Himself. I have two chapters left in my book, and I think that it is a good science fiction book because a good science fiction book includes a science topic that could never happen, but realistic people. In my book there is a real boy, but he reverses himself which is science fiction part of the story.

This book is a good sci-fi book because they have technology in the past that we don't have today like giant flying whales and fabricated beasties. Fabricated is when a Darwin take some life strands and puts them together to create a different animal. The other sci-fi example is a warmachine like a stormwalker or a tesla cannon. The Stormwalker is a very advanced walking machine. In the book it says that some machines can run as fast as a train. This book deserves 4 out of 5 stars.

I am reading the book Divergent, by Veronica Roth. I am on page 430. I thought the book was really good, and a really good Sci-Fi book. For example, one element about my book that is Science Fiction, is that is takes place in the future, in Chicago. I could tell this because there are factions, which is where you will spend the rest of your life in. You get into an faction, by your personality. For example, if your were brave you could possibly go into the faction dauntless. My story also has a lot of advanced technology, like a chair where they put a needle in your arm, and you go through a simulation. These are some of the examples, but there are way more.

I think this book was a good example of Science Fiction. This book had a couple good Science Fiction elements. In this book Joe Stoshack goes back in time and tries to stop Roberto Clemente to get on the plane that would kill him in 1971. One Science Fiction element in this book is the use of time travel. Man kind has not yet found a way to travel through time and this book gives an explanation on what people think it may be like. Also besides going into the past. Joe goes to the future to see how terrible it may be like. No cars, no planes. A step back wards from our life right now. This all happened for a reason you will have to read this book for. But the explanation on what the future may be like is quite logical. This was a good Sci Fi book.

This is a horrible science fiction text, there is no different dimension, futuristic element, or science breakthrough. This book is a historical fiction in my opinion. This book is about a girl named Gwyana that is used to trick Arthur into thinking a sword was given to him by the lake woman. She then pulls it off then has to disguise as a boy or the war band will notice she was the one in the water. Then the plan is going to fail so she becomes a works woman for Arthur's wife, to spy on her.

First, throughout the whole book it had examples of advanced technology. There were different types of instruments such as a holographic desk, real space simulators, etc. Also, the story took place in outer space-- also another example of science fiction. The problem of the story is to defeat the "buggers" which are an alien species that are trying to take over futuristic Earth. And Ender is the one to stop them. So, he attends battle school (another science fiction element) where he learns different battle strategies so he can stop them. Lastly, he finally graduates to command school-- by traveling through outer space, and has his final training before the real war.

The book is good because it tells about the future of kids who died and what happens to our legendary building like the Twin Towers(the legendary building ended up in Ever Lost which is quite rare).
