Sci Fi Blog #4

Title of your book.  What page are you on?  Authors use language to help their readers to visualize and/or experience (sound, touch, taste, etc) their stories.  Select a quote from your book that demonstrates this type of language use?  Make sure you use quotation marks and include the page #.  After the quote, please identify why it appealed to you.   Hint:  You may want to look for alliteration, similes, metaphors, personification, and/or idioms.

Include  your first name, last initial, and class period.

Example Post:

Allegiant.  Pg. 40.  On page 29 of my book, I liked this sentence, "The question that is itching at the back of my mind is:  Why didn't she tell me?"  I like how the author, Veronica Roth, used personification to express how a questions was bothering Tris.  The "itching"  implies that this question was distracting to her and was weighing on her mind.  She couldn't stop thinking about it, and really wanted an answer.

Sci Fi Blog Post 3

Title of your book.  What page are you on? At this point you should be nearing or be just a bit beyond the climax of your story, so summarize some of the main events that have occurred leading up to the "highest" or "turning" point of your sci fi book.  Don't tell us about the climax!  That would ruin it for others wanting to read your book :)

Sci Fi Blog 2

Title of your book.  What page are you on?  Select a quote from your book that demonstrates one of the characteristics of the science fiction genre?  Make sure you use quotation marks and include the page #.  After the quote, please identify the sci fi characteristic and tell us why you chose this quote.

Include first name, last initial, and class period.

Allegiant.  I have just started to read this book, so I am on page 14.  A quote from the book that shows I am reading science fiction is on page 10, "...they're starting the trials for all the prisoners.  They're going to put you all under truth serum, and if it works, you'll be convicted as traitors." Then on page 11 Tris continues, "....atypical.  In my experience, most Divergent can't resist the truth serum."  I chose these two quotes because they show a futuristic medical treatment that the government can use in a court of  law to make people tell the truth.  Also, in this part of the book Tris talks about how she is labeled Divergent, which is a type of futuristic human.
