Why did the author write this book? What can you infer? Make a claim and support with evidence.
Example:
Lois Lowry may have written the book Crow Call to share her own experience of a loved one coming back from being gone for a long time. In the book the main character's father has been gone for a long time and his daughter is very excited to be spending some time with him. In fact she gets up extra early to go on an adventure with him. She even wants to dress like he does. The little girl sees a shirt in the window at Kronenberg's window (a store), and her father allows her to get it even though it is super big (a man's shirt). After visiting the store, they go out for breakfast together. I can infer that Lois Lowry had a good relationship with her father as well. I think Lois wanted to share a story showing the importance of a relationship between a father and daughter.

I think that Jenny Han wrote this book because I think that she was trying to show younger readers about my age what summer's can be like and how to face them. I think that she was trying to teach younger girls to stand up for themselves even when they could be being bullied. For example, In the book when Jack makes fun of Annemarie she stands up for herself by challenging him to a diving contest in front of all of his friends and she also tells him exactly what he said that was wrong.

Veronica Roth
Page 291
I think the author wrote this book because it was to make a series. I can infer that because at the end of Divergent something big happens and it doesn't really end. She wrote Insurgent to finish the with a strong ending. It is like a sentence without a period except it isn't a sentence.
The series take place in Chicago. I think that they take place in Chicago is because she grew up there and lives there now. I think it is a very memorable place for her.

I am reading the book Out of My Mind by: Sharon M. Draper. I am currently on page 127. I think Sharon M. Draper wrote this book so that kids will learn the importance of excepting people for who they are and not treating others any different. Why I can infer this is because the main character Melody is disabled and when a girl made fun of her at the aquarium, her neighbor Mrs. V who came along on the trip stood up for Melody and told the girl that Melody is not any different and she also compared Melody being disabled to the girl having braces. It is not any different.

I think the only reason why the author wrote this was because he must have had an Idea about it. I can infer that he must've had some kind of experience, dream, etc. to get this idea. I can claim that this author got and idea to make this book. At the end of the book the author explains his past on how he used to be a video game designer and how that inspired him to write this book.

I think the author wrote this book from personal experience. I can infer that Kay Cassidy did not like being the new girl. Cassidy may have a dad that traveled a lot for work which caused her to move schools as much as Jess did, which would always make her the new girl.

Over the weekend I read Cinder by Marissa Meyer. The book us basically a futuristic spin-off of Cinderella. I think she wrote this book because the readers could connect to the story with the minor details that relate to Cinderella. Also, I have found that futuristic novels/ science fiction books have been becoming very popular. Maybe this author wrote it knowing that teens would immediately pick it up because she they ha some background knowledge and they were interested in the Utopian vibe.

Cynthia Lord, who wrote Rules, may have written this to express a feeling about how they felt when they were around someone like Jason or David. They may be different but that didn't stop Catherine from being friends with Jason or older sister with David.I can infer that the author could have been friends with a person like Jason or David but not for sure. Something must have inspired Cynthia to write a story like this. Even just to express the fact that just because someone is different doesn't mean they cant be friendly.

I am reading My Life as a Stunt boy by Janet Tashjian. I am on page 70 and I think the author wrote this book because maybe they wanted to be a stunt boy as a kid. I believe this is a story about Janets childhood because this book is descriptive like it actually happened.

I am reading the book "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. I am currently on page 315. I think the author wrote this book to show how important teamwork can be. I can infer that the author may have been in several important situations where teamwork was critical. In the book, all of the characters always refer to each other that without them working together, nobody would be alive. The author gets the teamwork message out a lot throughout this story, and I think that was the main reason that James Dashner wrote this book. Everything is based off working together as a team to accomplish their overall goal, to escape the maze.

I am reading Go Big or Go Home by Will Hobbs. I am currently on page 10. I think the authors wrote this book to inform kids and people on a fictional story on how a thing or rock crashed from space into someone's house and gave them a power or energy thing that can boost his strength and his him a lot of energy in his life from this rock that came from space. I think he wrote this book because he kind of explained about how stars were falling from the sky and some star exploded in the sky and that came crashing down by his house. So i think that is how that i inferred it from the book.

I read the book Storm breakers. The main character dad died by a car crash because he did not have his seat belt on. Then Alex thought to him self because his dad always wore his seat belt even if they would go across the street. So Alex went to the junk ward to see the car. He went up closer but the car did not have a dent. There were bullet holes in the windshields. Then Alex got suspicious.

I think Wendy Mass may have written Jeremy fink and the Meaning of Life because she wanted to show people the true meaning of life. Even though most of the book is humorous and mysterious, the moral of the story may be intended to teach something to young readers. In the book, she started off with something funny, but right away the story became serious and mysterious. Also, she dedicated the book to her family who helped her find the meaning of her life, and her own purpose. I can infer that she really appreciated her family, so that's why she dedicated it to them. So, I think she wanted people to know that you shouldn't waste your life on bad things, use your time wisely, because life truly is short.

I am reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I think Veronica Roth wrote this book to demonstrate the different types of people in the world. Also to show how it would be if all of the personalities were separated. I can infer that Veronica Roth wouldn't want it to be that way. I can infer this because Tris, the perceptive she wrote it from, doesn't like the way their society works. The majority of the people are against the government. I also think that the characters in the book are really persuasive in the text. I think Veronica Roth made it that way to convey her point of how the government isn't good in this book's setting.

I am reading schooled by Gordan Korman. I think he wrote this book because he is telling everyone we can live in a world all being different. I can infer that because cap the main character has no idea what a lot of thing are because he was home schooled by his hippie grandma and now she is in the hospital. My claim is that she has been living in a fantasy world.

I am reading the book Prodigy by Marie Lu. This is the second book in the series. I think that she wrote this book to show what the future may hold for the US. In the story, there is a girl who is helping a boy who is a criminal even though she was affiliated with the Republic. The boy was accused for a crime that he didn't do so she helped him escape. I think Marie had an experience like this where she had to choose between helping the accused or being loyal to her company. The choice June made put her own life into danger so I infer that Marie is audacious.

My book is The Emperor of Nihon-Ja by John Flanagan. I think John Flanagan wrote this book because he wanted to wrap up the series in an exciting, yet complete fashion. He wanted to make sure that any remaining questions were answered. But there was still the need to make the book action-packed. I think John Flanagan wanted to share how relationships can last from the beginning, and turn into something special at the end. For example, Alyss and Will were friends from childhood, and they end up married.

I think the author wrote this book to prove that an adventure could be fun, and exciting. In the story, Axel and his uncle plan to go the center of the Earth. At first, Axel refuses because it is too risky. His uncle tries to prove him that this could be an fun adventure to find new facts, and they are going to have a lot of fun. Once they start their adventure, Axel realizes that he was happy to go with his uncle, and that they are having a good time discovering new things. They find shocking discoveries, that no new before which is what helped Axel change his mind.

I don't think the author wrote this book for a specific reason, but I think the author wrote it in his free time and for fun. But, this book is based on real people, so I can infer that maybe this book has a bit to do with his early life. My claim is that the main character of this book was based on the author. My evidence is that some characters in this book there is a band called the Dusky Devastators of Depression. This boy meets the band

I am on page 38 of "The Eye of Minds" by James Dashner. I can infer that Dashner wrote this book to he was inspired to write another science fiction series. He also might want to share the feeling of making the right decisions while under immense pressure. For example, in the novel, the main character has to make a decision on whether or not he should help the VirtNet seek out a hacker who traps gamers in a virtual game which causes them to commit suicide. He has to decide if he would risk it all, or win it all.

I am reading Ungifted by Gordan Korman. I think that Gordan Korman wrote this book, because he wanted to show young readers that everyone is gifted in something. In the book, Donavon, the main character, gets in trouble. The superintendent makes a mistake, and he is transferred to a gifted school. When Donavon is in the new school, he wins a robot competition. This and much more makes him a gifted student. I can infer that Grodan Korman was also gifted.

Jeff Kinney wrote diary of a wimpy kid because he got the idea started writing it when he was in 7th grade. Veronica Roth may have wrote Divergent to show that there is a placement for most people. All of the factions are different and like every sixteen year old in this book, the placement test decides what faction you have to choose. Veronica Roth may have compared it her every day life style. The main character is divergent which means when she took her test, she didn't just have one faction. I can infer that the action in the book is going to rise.

I am reading the book Scumble by Ingrid Law. The author Ingrid Law might have wrote the book Scumble to inform people that it is okay to be different. The author is trying to prove the point that the main character has a lot that he is struggling with like his new power but he is still just a normal kid. I know that it is saying this because through out what I have read Ledger is struggling to control his powers and everyone thinks that he is weird so they stay away.

James Dashner wrote the sequel to "The Maze Runner" because he felt the need to continue the story. I can infer that he loves writing Thomas because he can relate to him and challenges him. I think that the author wrote this book to give a message, to be yourself. I can infer this because of evidence in the book. For example, in the book on page 121, it says, "I had probably chosen the plainest dress for the first day, and everyone else's had something sparkly on it." This quotes shows this message by having America be herself. She did not care that everyone else's dress was big, sparkling, and beautiful, she went with what she wanted. She was being herself.

I am reading the Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan I am on page 164. The author chose to write this sequel to The Lost Hero, because it is a connection and the book never ended. For example in the First book the author ended when Piper, Jason, and Leo were creating a huge pirate ship to eventually sail over to Greece to stop Gaea in her tracks. This way of ending it was like a cliff hanger or a "to be continued". It also said in the prophecy to defeat Gaea that 7 demigods would embark on a quest to defeat Gaea. But like all series they had mini encounters and quests on the way. In this scenario there are 3 people for camp halfblood and 3 from camp Jupiter (I'm not far enough in the book to know who the 7th is) So far they have had in The Lost Hero a mini quest for the 3 Greeks and in Son of Neptune a mini quest for them.

I am reading 'The Line' by Teri Hall. I am on page 107. I think Teri Hall might have written this book to show that life changes, very often. Our government, Our perspectives, everything changes, more rapidly than we think. She's showing in the near future what could happen, in a bad way. I think she wanted to show us that this is what could happen if our government makes bad changes. I can infer from the book that Pathik plans to meet Rachel. I can tell because it gives hints of how Indigo told him about the green house, which Rachel works in often. Prathik doesn't know that he will meet Rachel, but he plans to meet someone there because his Pa and him sent a corder down the stream onto The Property. She also had a lot of knowledge on medical things for this type of disease. I think that R.J Palacio maybe met someone with a similar disease as Augustus, the main character in the book because I saw a picture of her and her face was not deformed. Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark
Ridley Pearson

I think Mr. Pearson wrote the Kingdom Keepers series because, and I'm just guessing, but I think he may love Disney (like myself) and wanted to express through his passion in life, writing. He wanted to entertain children and teens with something we all grew up watching, Disney. I personally,I am a Disney addict and can relate to every Disney-based clue in the series. I can infer that Ridley went to Disneyland as he wrote the book for inspiration and for visual elements. Ridley wanted to put a twist on a classic Disney book. Instead of having mickey and Ariel doing the tango against Goofy and Rapunzel. ( I don't know, I'm just trying to say that he isn't using the protagonists in all the Disney stories, hes using the villains) He added holograms and mystery into the book. The Overtakers are trying to take over the world. There is no book like this. It is just an amazing series.

The Princess and The Pauper
By:Kate Brian
Page:65
Kate Brian might have written this book to show many things in a teenagers everyday life and some exaggeration as well. One reason why Kate Brian wrote this book is because even though where you live is beautiful and where “rich” and famous people live, does not mean everyone lives that life. I mean if you look at the character that lives in California and goes to a “fancy” school where a lot of rich people go, does not mean that she has that type of life as well. The character is I introduced to you lives in an apartment building with her mom,her cat,and HER leaky faucet. I can infer that the author,Kate Brian is the Pauper and dreamed about being a princess because on the back of the book there is a little snip of a part that states “ As a child, she always dressed up as a princess for halloween. What I also can infer is that the author made the characters on the front kind of look like her. She also made it seem like the pauper side was kinda her real life and the princess side the fantasy life she has always wanted. Maybe she was trying to say that she would take one day to become a princess, until it gets out of hand...just like the book.

The author wrote this book to entertain the reader.I infer that Tris and Tobias are going to get caught by the dauntless because Tobias tattoos are showing and they treated a dauntless woman and I think she already knows Tobias face so I think they will get in trouble .

I am reading The Diamond of Darkhold. I think that she wrote the book because this is the last book in the series and she was raping up the story. I can infer that the people of ember are learning how to live above ground.

Zachs Lie

pg #121
I think Roland Smith wrote Zachs Lie because he wanted to make a point to the readers. Whatever life throws at you, you need to push through it and overcome that obstacles. That is what Zach is doing in the book, overcoming his obstacles. I can infer that there will be an exciting part in the story because there is a lot of suspense in the book so far.

The Hunger Games
ReplyDeleteSuzanne Collins
I think Suzanne Collins wrote The Hunger Games because she wanted to emphasize that if something hard comes at you, you just have to deal with it and move on. In the book, Katniss Everdeen is trying to overcome the obstacle of having to compete in the Hunger Games. At one point, I feel sympathetic for her because she has to fight in a wild environment and only has a 4% chance of survival. But then again, she made the decision to volunteer for her sister at the Reaping. One inference I can make is that she was very frightened and scared about entering in the Hunger Games. I can also infer, based on some of her language in the text, that she doesn't want be on the same team as Peeta Mellark. Of course, this is just at the beginning of the book. As I progessed more in the book, I noticed that she started to like Peeta more and more. However, after I finished the book, I still had one question in mind. Who did Katniss like more: Peeta or Gale?

Finished
I think John Green wrote this book because he wanted people to have a better understanding of what a cancer patients life is like. In the book he makes you understand the emotional roller coaster that Hazel and Augustus and going through. He makes you really feel for the character, and it almost feels like you are witnessing the events taking place. I can infer that Hazel may think she is ready to die, but she really isn't okay with it. In the text it says, "But Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I'm for our little infinity. You gave me a forever within numbered days, and i'm grateful." This shows thaw while Hazel may seem strong on the outside, she really is crumbling down.

I have used a lot of schema in this book. For example, America is always talking about how different the palace is from home. I can use my background knowledge to know that earlier in the book, they told a lot about the setting and how her life was, so I can use my background knowledge to know how different her home is from the palace.

I have used schema in this book. For example, The Character Janie, found her face on a milk carton saying she was kidnapped 10 years ago. It said in the book that Janie could not concentrate the whole school day. I can use background knowledge that she is bothered by this for we have all had those days were we r bothered by something and cannot concentrate

I think the author wrote this book through personal experience. I can infer that Ben will find his father. I think this because Ben has no given up and still has hope.
