Last week we visited the media center to check-out a book to jump back into reading after our long Winter Break.  I'd like you to blog about the book you chose last week.  What is the title of the book?  Who is the author?  What page are you on (or did you finish)?  Why did you choose the book?  What do you think so far (your opinion)?   Make sure you explain your opinion!

I am reading The Mortal Instruments City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. I haven't finished yet, I am only on page 58 because I have been very busy lately.I chose the book because the first book in the series left me on a cliffhanger and I was anxious to find out what happens. Overall the book is really slow so far but I think it is to early to make a good opinion on the book.

    1. I hate when sequels are disappointing. You get all excited because you like the first book, and then the next one doesn't live up to your expectations.

I am still reading Pendragon Book Three: The Never War, by D.J. MacHale. I am almost done I am on page 307. I chose this book because I have read the first two and really liked the sci-fi in these books. My opionion on these books are, they are extremely suspenseful and always have new things popping out of every book.

I just finished the book "Divergent" and I am now reading "Insurgent". The author is Veronica Roth. I choose this book because everyone was recommending it, and saying it was a good book, and it was sci-fi. In my opinion the book is what people say. It is really good because I like the genre, Veronica Roth uses great words to describe the character, and I just like the plot of the story. It just makes me keep wanting to read.

The book I am currently reading is " Out of My Mind " by: Sharon M. Draper. The page I am currently on is page 51. Why I chose this book is because I favor the genre realistic fiction and I heard it was a great book to read, so I thought I might enjoy it. What I think so far about the book is it is a good book because it has very descriptive writing and it is similar to the book " Rules " by: Cynthia Lord because it is about a girl with a disability who can't walk or talk and the character David from " Rules " is a boy with a disability similar to the girl in " Out of My Mind."

The book I am currently reading is The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien. I am currently on page 121. I chose the book because I have been wanting to read the series for a while now and finished The Hobbit so I can finally start reading the series. I really like it so far, even if it's really slow going in the beginning. There is always something going on that the main character doesn't know about that you don't know about until he does. Tolkien does a really good job of building tension in the books even during the boring parts. All in all, it's a really good book so far.

  9. I did not choose a book from the library last week, because I knew that I had one at home that I wanted to read instead. The book is called Allegiant by Veronica Roth and I am on page 42. I am also reading a book called Shug by Jenny Han that I started today. I am on page 21. I think that Allegiant is very good. I liked how Veronica Roth switched up the layout. In this book each chapter is either in Tris' or Tobias' perspective. I also like the book Shug, because I think that it is easier to understand when the characters and I are close in age. I think that the author does not write in a way that is too hard for me to understand. I chose the book Allegiant, because I really like sci fi. I chose the book Shug, because I thought that the back seemed interesting.

So far I think that the book is really good and also pretty sad. The main character has a messed up face that he was born with and kids stare at him and say mean things but he is still able to stay positive.

So far, the book is very interesting. There are a lot of new words that the other characters speak of that aren't real. Also, the setting is confusing. 17. I am currently reading Theo Boone: The Abduction, which is written by John Grisham. I concluded my reading in class on page 24. This book is part of a series of three books. In fact, John Grisham is writing a new book called the Activist. I plan to get this one as soon as it comes out! So far, I am really enjoying it! I chose it because it was the sequel to the first book, Theo Boone: Kid Lawyer. Kid Lawyer was a great book, but when I finished reading, questions were still unanswered. This is why I chose the second book.

The book that I checked out last week at the Media Center was After Ever After by Jordan Sonnenblick. I am on page 51, and I really like this book. It is the sequel to the book Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pies by Jordan Sonnenblick, although this book is told from Jeffrey's perspective, while Steven is in Africa playing the drums. What I like about this book is that when Jeffrey enters 8th grade, he is a semi-normal kid without cancer. He has his best friend Tad, who has cancer, and is defying the odds. On the first day of 8th grade, he meets his "true love", by helping her pick up her papers in the hallway. With school, girls, and friends causing him stress, Jeffrey has to beat the odds and pass 8th grade with the big Standardized tests coming up.

Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Vernes
I actually just started this book that I checked out today. I am on page 15. We are reading this book for our book club. I chose this one because it sounds like it might be a mystery, or a very intense read. Also, it is a classic so the language and words are a little different than modern day reads. So far, it has already jumped into suspenseful parts. A boy's uncle is a mineralogy professor and he finds a mysterious document in his study room written in the ancient language of Runic. The uncle actually knows how to speak mostly every language ever spoken on Earth. This language gives him some problems though and right now he is trying to decode the document and see what it means. Sounds like a great book so far! I can't wait till the action and suspense grows even more.

The book I am reading is Operation YES. The author of this book is Sara Lewis Holmes. The page I am on so far is page 46. I choose this book because it looked like some kind of friendly book and that it seemed to be funny, and also reading the back of the book made me get interested in the book. Around the beginning, I was getting confused with mixing up the characters, and what was happening, and then later I started getting it, and the story seems like a fun kind of story! I like how it’s based off a student named Bo and he is new to this school, and starting to like it, and especially his weird teacher. My opinion on this book is, it is a book mostly for people who want to see some activities happening, and thinking and imagining of the things they say. Mostly it’s like based on school and home. So, mostly like a book that’s based in normal activities, just changed around. So far I’m liking this book, and there’s still more in the future!

I always watch movies like this and I love them, so i decided to try to find a book like that. I really love it so far because it is funny and very interesting on how in Chapter 1 it is the side or life of the princess and chapter 2 is the side and life or perspective of the Pauper ( A normal, kinda poor girl.) Last week we visited the media center to check-out a book to jump back into reading after our long Winter Break. I'd like you to blog about the book you chose last week. What is the title of the book? Who is the author? What page are you on (or did you finish)? Why did you choose the book? What do you think so far (your opinion)? Make sure you explain your opinion!

I did not choose a book from the library because I had a book at home that I really wanted to read. I am reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. Right now I am on page 15 or chapter 2. I chose the book because I have seen the movie, and I really enjoyed it, and it was sitting on my nightstand wanting to be read. So far, I really like how the author describes the most simplest words and he makes them more descriptive, and it makes me as the reader want to read the story more. I hope I will enjoy the book more as I read it.

His father was a scientist working with Dr. Brock. They figured out a cure for cancer but the government thought they were going to use it for a weapon. Peter then meets up with Eddie Brock son of Dr. Brock. They talk about the cure cancer, which is now the black suit and it makes people faster, stronger, and changes their behavior. Last week I checked out a book called Fablehaven by Brandon Mull. I read two chapters in it and I decided it was not worth my time. I then checked out another book called Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs. So far I enjoy it. It is fantasy book, but starts out as realistic fiction. It is about a boy named Jacob who listens to his grandfathers fairy tales. Only, they are not fairy tales. Jacob stops believing those stories whens he grows up, because his father explained that grandpa has a very strange background, and his stories are exaggerations of the truth. Where I stopped, grandpa is frantically explaining that he needs some special key that Jacob has, because the monsters have found him.
