Today I read The Hunger Games in readers workshop. I read 15 pages today. In the book Kitniss and Gale were going to the reaping. So far my feelings on the book is that at the moment its kind of dull i will continue to find out more though.
Today I was reading "Forge" by Laurie Halse Anderson. I read 47 pages today. In my book Curzon found Isabel and Isabel is a maid to Bellingham and Curzon is now working for Bellingham again. If Curzon tries to escape, then Bellingham will punish Isabel for whatever Curzon deserved. My feeling about this book is that I feel sad for Curzon because he was a free and Bellingham lied about it. I also am mad at Bellingham for not letting Curzon be free.

Today during reader's workshop I read the book Chains. I read 20 pages today. What happened in my book was Lady Seymour gave Isabel a cloak for free and British guards were putting prisoners in their prison. I feel that what I read today was not as exciting to read as previous chapters. It was a little bit boring and a little slow.

I read the book "Forge" by Laurie Halse Anderson. I read twenty pages of the book today in class. During my reading Curzon was sent to go be something like a slave, but it did not tell me directly. He then realized that his love that he has not seen in a long time is working there too. Isabel. Curzon wants to run away with Isabel, but Isabel has been ignoring him. Finally he talks to Isabel in the early morning when everyone else is asleep. Isabel talks with him and decides that she wants to run away with him but she can not. She said to Curzon that she has tried three times before but after the third time their master took her to a blacksmith to get something like a "collar." It has a lock on it and the master keeps the key around his neck. Curzon and Isabel have to find out a way to fix this problem.

I read the book called The Lost Hero. I read to page 21. A kid named Jason woke up in a camp where he wasn't supposed to be. The book so far was really silly. I really don't like Rick Riordan. I think I will abandon this book. It is really silly.

I read The Alchemyst by Micheal Scott, I read 82 pages. In the book so far, Josh and Sophie Newman witness a battle they shouldn't see, between Dr. John Dee and Nicholas Flamel (who was pretending to be Nick Fleming). Nicholas' wife is captured and Josh and Sophie are being introduced into the world of Ancient Warriors, Alchemysts, Magicians, Sorceresses, Necromancers, etc. I really like this book and have already read it 3 or 4 times.

I read the Lost Hero and I read about 22 pages. In the book their's a boy named Jason who doesn't remember anything even his friends, but one day Jason and his friends go to a museum for a field trip. They get attacked by a monster and finds out that their coach is a satyr who protects half-bloods against monsters. I think the book is boring right now, but when I read more pages the book will be fantastic.

I read Catching Fire By Suzzane Collins. I read 10 pages. The book so far has been more of a introduction. It told me how Gale, Katniss's friend, is in need of help because he is very poor. Katniss just hunts for his family so she can support them. I think I will like this book. I think this because I have heard this is action packed just like the previous Hunger Games. I hope this book will contain suspense and cliffhamgers.

I read Chains today in readers workshop. I read 22 pages. I started at the part when Isabel was caught trying to run away. After she was caught she was put in jail and beat very harshly. As I was reading, I felt bad for Isabel because she was beat and tortured for trying to be free, when she really was supposed to be free.
I read Woods Runner by Gary Paulsen..I read 33 pages. The book is so far about a kid named Samuel Running Trough the woods trying to find his parents. Samuel is trying to find his parents because one day Samuel came back from hunting bear and his house was burnt down. He found dead bodies but not his parents. So back to the story. Samuel came across a British and Indian base and he herd people firing at them so he disided to fire to. But right when he was about to pull the tiger to Indians where behind him

I am reading Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson. I read from 170-199 in readers workshop today. As I was reading the British came to New York but the rebels had already fled. Elihu Lockton, Isabel’s master, returned home with the British soldiers. Lady Seymour, Elihu’s Aunt, is indeed of servants because hers fled. Isabel goes to work for her for a little while. While she is at Lady Seymour's house a fire happens and buns down 500 building, including Lady Seymour's. Isabel saves Lady Seymour but loses the one object that she had in the fire. My reaction is sad because Isabel is supposed to be free with her sister Ruth but they get sold together to the Lockton's. Mrs. Lockton does not like Ruth thought and sells her without Isabel.

I read the book, Chains, for my social studies class. I read about 60 pages. Chains is an interesting book with painstaking detail. Chains is about a girl named Isabel who is sold, because he her mother died and Isabel is trying to gt back home along with her little sister, Ruth. I feel sad for Isabel that she has to b a slave. Isabel runs with problems when she is greatly punished and her sister is sold again away from Isabel. She has to figure out how clean up the huge mess she has done. Chains is a good book tht I recommend that you should read.

There friend Annie had them over for dinner to pray for there meal and to find his parents in New York. Today in class, I read the book Forge by Laurie Halse Anderson. I read from page 156 to page 190, which is 34 pages. In the part that I read, the main thing that happened was the main character, Curzon, goes to the Billingham office, and Mr. Billingham says that Curzon is his slave again. Curzon does not agree with this, so he decides to fight back. He spits on his "master", he pushes his "master", and every time he does something, he gets punished even more. My feeling about the part that I read today is I am happy that Curzon gets fed reguarly now, but I am mad that Mr. Billingham lies to John Burns and captures Curzon.

The book I am currently reading is "The Lost Hero" by Rick Riordan. Today, I had read 29 pages. So far, the main characters Piper, Leo and Jason have crash landed in a abandoned warehouse in the middle of Detroit. As they were scouting the area, they encounter a group of cyclops who lived in the warehouse and are struggling to escape alive. Piper and Jason are trapped and the cyclopes grasp so it's up to Leo to find a way to rescue them. I have enjoyed this book so far and I can't wait to read more.

Today I was reading my history book, Chains. I read 25 pages and that was about 5 chapters. In the section I was reading, the British have declared war on the rebels and Isabel wants to join the British, because she believes the British can set her free. The British take over the city of New York and more men move into abandoned houses of the rebels. Isabel then has to go to Lady Seymour's house to help serve some men she has as guests (soldiers). Isabel is properly fed and taken care of, but three days after the invasion, Isabel woke up that morning and New York was afire. Right now, I think the book is very exciting and intriguing and I am anxious to find out more about the story. Why is New York on fire, and will Isabel be okay?

Currently the book I am reading is Forge by Laurie Halse Anderson. I read about 60 pages. As I was reading the book I discovered a lot of more new thing about Curzon, the main character in the book. He is an African American who has to serve in the Revolutionary War. I figured that he went through more trouble things in his life, and going through hard and harsh experiences in his life. There is one major problem though, and this will impact his life, because he is now apart of an important squad for his leader. I don’t clearly know if he will or will not be able to join the leader’s squad again, because I read up to page 190. My feelings for today as I read the book was really... wanting to get into the book, like I want to find out what happens next.

The book I read today was The Fighting Ground and I read 34 pages. While I was reading the main character Jonathan was found by 3 German soldiers and they took him prisoner. While they were traveling they found an abandoned house and decided to stop there. In the shed by the house Jonathan found a small boy sitting there and Jonathan shows the Germans what he found. When the soldiers fall asleep Jonathan and the boy escape. While I was reading I felt bad for Jonathan because it would seem really hard to escape from captives while holding a boy and it is dark out.

The book I read today was Forge. I read 35 pages during reader's workshop today. During my book a boy named Curzon, who is in the war is traveling with his army to defeat the British. During the way a lot of men suffer from hunger or coldness. During their adventure they need to get investigated by congress. When the day finally comes one of the congress is someone who Curzon knows. His name is James Bellingham, a person who Curzon used to work for. James says out loud that Curzon used to work for him and Eden finds out. James asks Curzon if he could meet up with him to talk the next day, Curzon says yes. And that is where I left off in the book. The book left me with a lot of suspense. I don’t know what will happen when he goes, and if Eden and Benny are going. Maybe James knows that he escaped from prison and if he is going to capture him again, but if Eden and Benny go will they help him if anything bad happens?

I am reading the book Chains by Laurie Anderson. Today I read 47 pages. A lot happened in my book. Such as Isabel goes to the Patriot colonel and tells information about her owners who are on the British. Isabel tells them the plane of what her owner is going to do. Word spreads and Isabel’s owners the Locktons burn all papers with evidence about their plane. Later on Mr Lockton leaves to escape and his wife has to be at the house all day. Isabel goes through much slavery but it is worth it the colonel is going to do all he can to help her be free. The colonel tells her a code word which she shall not tell anyone. You have to read the book to find out. I think this book is very exciting, and very factual. This is probably 1 of my favorite books, and I am going to read the next book.

I am reading the book Forge by Lorie Halse Anderson and it is really good. It's not the best book that I have ever read but it is definitely a book that I would recommend to others. It is about an escaped slave named Curzon and he decides to join the Patriot army for the entire war. Along the way he meets some people he doesn't like very much and he also is learning how to live the military life. I only read a little bit of the first book in the series Chains, but I don't think that you have to read Chains to know what is going on. I think that I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. If you read my post, I think that you should read Forge by Lorie Halse Anderson.

I read the book Chains. I read about 20 pages. In the twenty pages that I read(Summary) Lockton figured out that the colonial army was safter him and new about their plan to kill Washington. Lockton then realized he had to escape so he got in a box that said cheese and was sent away to escape from the arrest. A guy was hanged and the British army docked the town to attack. Every one is in chaos. I think Lockton will eventually get caught by the army. I also think Lockton is selfish since he left his wife there to be arrested.

The book I read (and finished) today in Reader’s Workshop is an absolutely brilliant book called Looking for Alaska by John Green (a life ruiner.) I only read a mere 28 pages, but in those 28 pages my mind was overthinking every simple line, and my heart twisting at the sadness and mourning of dear Alaska. Today, I finally finished my history book, and was given the opportunity to finish this heart breaking book. Pudge (Miles), Takumi, the Colonel, and Lara finally figured out why Alaska possibly died. Her mother’s death date was the day before her death date, and she forgot, Impulsively, she drove off extremely and dangerously drunk. Resulting in the car crash. Now, to honor her, they of course pulled the ultimate prank: The Alaska Young Memorial prank at Culver Creek High School. The school celebrated and cheered, and for a moment: Alaska Young stood in front of the audience and bowed. She deserved it. This book made me cry every chapter, It overwhelmed me with feelings that only books and authors could give me. I cannot explain it more.

Today I have started reading a new book in the Ranger's Apprentice series, the eighth book, "The Kings of Clonmel". I have read until page 18 and have really started enjoying it. As it starts, Halt, Will's previous master, was missing, according to Will and Gilan, and did not show up on the Ranger Gathering Ground. This was because he was sent on another mission to defend villages from attacking raiders. However, back in the Gathering Ground, a feast is happening, along with training of new apprentices. The book I read today during reader’s workshop was called 'Woods Runner' by Gary Paulsen. I am reading this book for history. I read about 10 pages today. The conflict that took a part in this book was when Samuel (main character) and his friend Caleb are bound to reach New York before sunrise if they both travel at a steady pace and have no useless stops. Samuel afterward went after her and tried to find her and when he did Annie would not let go of him and cried and sobbed most of the walk and they were walking all the to New York City. I read 25 pages of Woods Runner by Gary Paulsen. What happened in my book was the main character, Samuel, went off to find his abducted parents coming across the indians and soldiers that burnt down his village. As he watched them dance they were attacked. Samuel fired, killing an indian resulting in a tomahawk to his head. He woke up to be accompanied by a man involved in the attack named John Coop. Some feeling I were having were confusion and disappointment. I was confused and disappointed how Samuel didn't die when he was whacked in the head with a very harmful weapon. Its not that I wanted him to die, I just didn't find it very likely.

In class today I read the book, Forge. I started off the day reading 10 pages in advisory and continued in English by reading 23 more pages.
In the book, Curzon realized that he was not very likely to escape slavery, due to the fact that if he did, his master would torture Isabel. All the pain his master would have inflicted on Curzon would be given to Isabel. Curzon was upset because he would never want Isabel to be in pain. He had just found out how much pain she had gone through already and was not going to escape without her. He would never run and leave Isabel. I enjoy reading this book because it is very interesting and everything in the story makes me feel so emotional. My heart hurts for Curzon and Isabel, all I really want to do is jump into the book and help them. I want to change the way blacks were treated in history. I want to give Curzon and Isabel their freedom. I want them to be happy and live their lives without fear.

During Reader’s Workshop, I read Woods Runner (Lit. Circle Book). I read about 21 pages. For the pages that I read so far, Samuel spotted some British soldiers, a few Indians, and the captives (His parents are amongst the captives), he tries to save his parents, but an Indian had seen him and shoots Samuel in the head. Later, a group of several men had took him when they saw the attack. Samuel wakes up and realizes that he is wounded badly and that the group of men was helping him for the past 6 days while he was out cold. He soon leaves in search of his parents. Samuel runs into some nice people who (fed him and gave him some information on the British) are then attacked by the Germans. He takes their 8/9 year old daughter with him as he looks for his parents (Samuel feels bad that she lost her parents and is alone, that’s why he takes her with him). When I first started this book I was really confused, but suddenly it became more interesting as all these events are happening.

During reader's workshop, I was reading Chains by Laurie Hales. Today, I read about 17 pages. In Chains right now, Madam realized that she has been bad to her slaves and has started to be nice. Then the next day, she sold Isabel's sister Ruth. Once Isabel found out about this, she ran away from Madam and ran to Colonel Regan. Everyone ran after her and they are deciding if she stays or if she gets sold. Or how she will get punished. Also, I really like this book. In the book Aggie is a old woman who is the owner of the sleepy time motel decides to sell the motel. Only a couple of days after she lists the motel she gets a call from a man named Clyde Dover. Clyde wants to by the motel just by the description of it. Willow is a young girl who has an almost perfect life. She has everything a girl could want except for a mom. Her parents are divorced and her dad does nothing to help Willow. Willow lives with her dad but she is raising herself. Then it happens her dad sees the ad for the sleepy time motel and goes straight to the bank to make a huge deposit. Loretta is also a young girl who lives with her mom and dad. One day Loretta gets a package from a mysterious person. The package has a note on it that says Dear, Loretta
Your mother passed on to the other side at 6:16 A.M. on June 6th.She asked me to send you all her earthly possessions, enclosed herewith. She was a good person. She was my friend. At first Loretta does not understand this but then she shows it to her mom and then she understands. What this book tells me abou the book is that it has a lot of character to it which makes it unique.

Today in readers workshop I read "Forge". I read approx. 10-12 pages today. Today in my book, Curzon (main character) was planning on escaping that night but then Bellingham (his "master") finds out since one of the slaves heard the conversation and told him. So know whatever consequences he deserves happens to Isabel (a character that is very close to Curzon). Now he must decide on how he will get both him and Isabel out of there. This book is very exciting and eventful. I also have pity on Curzon for what all he went through just to be a slave again.

I read Forge during reader's workshop today in class. I read about 28 pages. As I read, Curzon had been forced into once again being a slave to Bellingham and finds out that he will be working alongside Isabel. She tells him what had happened after she left him and he lets her in on his plans of escape. She refuses for she had already tried to escape three times. I feel on the edge of my seat as I read it.

Today during Reader’s Workshop i read ‘Sophia’s War’. I read 35 pages. In these pages I read how Sophia met a man named Robert Townshend. He spoke to her once under cover of a rain storm. He kept intentionally running into and up to Sophia, and she could begin to tell he wanted something. Sophia learned that he was an American (rebel) spy, and he wanted Sophia’s help. After her brother died, she wanted to help in the war, help win the war for her brother. She found this a chance, but she knew all the dangers. Flashing back to Nthan Hale, who was a rebel spy. He was hung. She discussed it with her family, and decided she would do it. I really like this book. It has lots of different cliff hangers, and the plot line really changes up. You can't really tell what's going to happen next. I really like it.

Today during reader's workshop I was reading the book Chains by Lauriehalse Anderson. Today I read 22 pages. Chains is about two african american children that are slaves and work for Mr Lockton on his farm. Mr Lockton just came from jail and got in a large fight with Mrs Lockton. Isabelle and Ruth are listening through the door trying to figure out what they are talking about. Its about something very important though. In the next chapter, Mr Lockton invites the mayor to his house. Isabelle is the server so who is listening to what they are saying. They were talking about how to plan for the murdering of George Washington. I'm really enjoying this book because I want to learn more about the history of the United States. Its very good book because I want to read more and I want to see what happens next.

The book that I was reading today during reader’s workshop was IFunny. I read 37 pages, just counting the whole pages, I didn't count like one page and both on each side, just the whole page. As I was reading, mostly it’s just about Jamie’s life, as this book is based on. Jamie is the main character and the book talks about the life and what happens in Jamie’s life. So far at first there were good things where he found about a contest, but he isn't sure if he wanted to join because he thought he wasn't really funny, but later considered joining. So far the book is great! I just really love reading about Jamie’s life stories, and his jokes are hilarious! This book is so far great!

In reader's workshop today I read 41 pages from the book "Forge" by Laurie Halse Anderson. I read from page 156 to 197. In the section I read Gideon escapes with Isabel, but Isabel returns without her her master knowing it. General Nathaniel Greene moves into Moore Hall, and his wife wants Isabel. The night before the two ladies are supposed to leave, Curzon and Isabel escape. I really like historical-fiction and this book was really good. It is the second book in a trilogy, so I think I will check out the first, and definitely the second.

ReplyDeleteThe book I was reading is called " Starters". I read 30 pages about Callie who rented her body to an ender. An ender is an older person who wants to be young again so they rent young peoples bodies with permission. Something had gone terribly wrong with the program, so Callie woke up in her enders life. But she was still in her body. This really freaked me out because I would not to be in another life. I would cry my eyes out, and want to go home.

I read Wood Runners by Gary Paulsen. I read from pages 74 to 94. Something I read about was Samuel's friend Caleb getting shot and Samuel must escort him to his house. In the chapter after Samuel decides to take a girl named Annie with her but Samuel doesn't know if he should take Annie to Philadelphia or New York. My feeling about this book is that it is a great book.

I read Woods Runner by Gary Paulsen over readers workshop. I read from pages 66 to 102. Throughout my reading, Samuel Smith was on his journey to rescue his parents. Along the way, he meets up with many people unexpectedly. They help Samuel out tremendously by giving him food, caring for his wounds, and keeping him safe at their houses. The most significant place where Samuel stops at is at a very nice barn home to Caleb, Ma, and Annie. They stuff Samuel until he can't put any more food down. When Samuel is finished with his visit and he sets off to find his parents, Caleb's house gets raided by a group of soldiers. Their house gets looted, destroyed, and burned. Caleb and Ma get killed, but little Annie escapes into the woods without harm. Later, Samuel finds Annie in a bush and then they set off together in search of Samuel's parents. When I was reading, I felt really good for Samuel. When I read how lucky and fortunate Samuel was to find Annie and nice houses to stay at, I felt how Samuel felt. I could feel how safe he felt, and how healthy he felt at the end of each stop. So far, Woods Runner is a very enjoyable book.

The book I read today in Reader’s Workshop was I, Emma Freke. It is a Caudill Nominee this year. I read 63 pages during class. In my book, Emma gets ready for the annual Freke Family Reunion. She asks Stevie, the librarian, for a bunch of camping supplies, because the reunion will be at a campground. Emma is really scared, because she doesn’t know if she’ll fit in with the rest of the tribe. She keeps on doubting herself, wondering if she is anything like her family. Then, once she arrives, she meets tons of relatives who are just like her; excessively tall and with straight, red hair. She starts to really fit in with her family. This book is a little too slow for me. It is good, but I really would love some action. It is not the most interesting book of the Caudill selections. I think it would be more interseting if something happened to Emma or Donatella. Like maybe something went wrong on the plane, like it was hijacked, or Emma went missing in Wisconsin. I think it would add a little exciting twist to the book.

I read a book called The fighting ground during reader's workshop. I read from page 71 all the way to page 105. Also what happened was that Jonathan was all alone because he lost the troops and the line so he was all alone and he was wandering around and then he heard gunshots and then he tried finding them but then he didn't and then he was going to shot a german soldier but he could because he was only 13 years old and did not know anything and also he ran off and was hiding and threw himself to the floor and was thinking how come he did not pull the trigger or why he didn't shoot and was just looking at the stars thinking.

I am reading the book named Chains by Laurie Anderson. I am on page 199 out of 199. Right now in the book Isabel the main character who is a slave and is getting very mad at her master for selling her sister. She tried to run and was eventually caught in the fort where the Patriots were coming out. The person in charge is a man named Colonel Reagan. He earlier in the book promises Isabel freedom for the information she brought him. When he is challenged on deciding if he should free Isabel he says no. She is punished by getting branded with the letter I for Insolence. I like this book because she herself is not real but the story about the American revolution is.

I read Bounce by: Natasha Friend. I read 33 pages during reader's workshop. Evyn (Ev) is moving to Boston because her father is marrying a woman who lives there. Her new school is filled with people she has never met before, and her family is too! I love this book because it’s realistic fiction and easy to relate to.
